A privately operated toll bridge and roadway connecting Interstate I-85 with U.S. 231 in Wetumpka.

24/7, year-round, unless weather conditions force road closures (flooding/icing).

Tolling & Payment

Passenger vehicles: $1.75 with Freedom Pass, $2.25 cash/credit.

Cash, credit/debit cards, Freedom Pass, BestPass.

Freedom Pass

The Freedom Pass is an electronic tolling system that allows drivers to pay automatically at a discounted rate without delay. It works at all American Roads toll facilities in Alabama.

Discounted rates, dedicated lanes, faster travel with no need to stop at the booth, and online account management.

Travel & Safety

Yes, the bridge is monitored 24/7, and in severe weather conditions such as ice, the Emerald Mountain Expressway may temporarily close to protect driver safety.

For safety reasons, bicycles or pedestrians are not permitted on the Emerald Mountain Expressway.

Yes, but please follow Alabama Department of Transportation regulations for axle weight restrictions. For special arrangements, contact our office in advance.

Customer Service & Assistance

Our toll attendants are available 24/7 to assist you. If you encounter an issue, stop safely and speak to the toll collector. Or reach out to our office.

Receipts are available from the toll attendant at the time of payment, or you can log into your Freedom Pass account to view and print your trip history.

ACCOUNTS & PROGRAMS

Anyone can open an account. There are no residency requirements. Sign up online or reach out to our office.

No, these are separate programs that operate independently. You'll need to choose which payment method works best for your travel needs.

No, we never communicate via text message about toll payments. We do not use video tolling. If you receive such a message, it is fraudulent.
